I don’t know enough aboutAustrian politics to comment much on this, but I thought Fistful readers would be interested to know that Joerg Haider and several others have left the Freedom Party to establish a new party, the Alliance for Austria’s Future.

The great irony is that Haider’s party stands for law and order and is constantly in chaos. One can only hope that this time they’ve condemned themselves to oblivion for good.
Good riddance, though. They’re just plain scary.

I was very pleased to see a poll in Der Standard that showed that a plurality believe the FPO/BZO will now sink into “bedeutungslosigkeit” (lit. meaninglessness). Mind you, I’m sure the Eipami will find a way of making trouble still
