Ban them and in a few years their supporters will have gone either to the DVU or the Republicans.
This is no solution. You have to address the complaints of the voters. If they have a problem with immigration and free trade look at it with an open mind. Determine what can be done or tell them that the pain must be borne for the common good.

As for the police actions, if both sides want to clash, why not let them? It certainly has less impact on the community than the chaos of a blocked public transportation system.

No, no, no. The neo-nazi party must not be banned! Do you not see the irony there? Of course, you have a somewhat different system in Germany, whereby political parties receive state funding but this in itself is outrageous and something that (for the moment at least) we have not had in England. If a political party cannot generate enough enthusiasm among its supporters to raise the money required to fight an election, then that political party has no right to even be on the ballot paper.

The same thing applies to the 'crime' of holocaust denial. It is a 'thought crime' and once again the irony is clearly lost on those countries that enforce this disusting law. David Irving is an egregious little shit, but I'll support his right to say and believe whatever the hell he likes [insert ubiquitous caveat about incitement to violence here].

My final point is that, given Blair, Brown, Merkel, Sarkozy, Balkenende et al are warmongering Washington-controlled fascists themselves, it seems somewhat moot to be getting worked up about idiots such as the NDP and the BNP. The Nazi scum are already in government.

Still, it's nice to know that overt Nazi parties are unable to garner much in the way of support.

I have to admit to being conflicted about banning these SoBs. Emotionally, I'm all for it, but I see a danger where as a banned party the NPD might use the romantic attraction of belonging to an underground organisation as a recruiting thing. Presumably their target demographic is not the best and the brightest, and might be susceptible to such an approach. I seem to remember that when the French government briefly banned the LCR in the early 70s, they experienced the fastest growth in their history (not that I want to compare the LCR to the NPD, I should emphasise).

Also, isn't it harder to monitor an underground organisation than an open one? I don't know the answer to this, but it worries me.
