Yeah, I think IT's effect in many of these is far from clear. I once read a couple of papers by Eric Brynjolffson in this regard. I think it's not even clear IT is bringing down the "unit search costs" in every situation.</description>

Partially. You need to be aware that you need to know something and you need to be able to understand what you retrieve.
The internet is speeding things up, but the effect is not continuous. It'll become a bit more helpful as new stuff is uploaded and better organized, but it is a one time effect. I guess we've already reaped much of the internet's benefits in that regard.</description>
