It seems to me ironic that…while I reject what Irving says… brutalises the Palestinians with a pitiless rule that wouldn’t replicates some measures of Nazi and fascist rule… nothing says that Israel will last ..remember Hitler’s boast of a 1000 Year Reich.

So Israel=Nazi Germany? Who knew I could find such “irony” on A Fistful of Euros?

Simple solution.
Austria enacts this law:
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

It seems to me ironic that …while I reject what Irving says…we have to abandoned a basic right to silence him….Just as Israel now denies the most basic Human rights to the Palestinians and adopts a fascist rule over them which wouldn’t be astray in Apartheid South Afric,and brutalises the Palestinians with a pitiless rule that wouldn’t replicates some measures of Nazi and fascist rule…still there’s a lot of history still to come in the Mid-East and nothing says that Israel will last ..remember Hitler’s boast of a 1000 Year Reich.

Indeed not, but then there’s no reason for it to be.

In Germany and Austria though, there are two reasons. Firstly, to prevent their own people (and others) engaging in nazi propaganda on their soil; secondly – and equally importantly – to show the rest of the world that they’re very serious about it.

I think their position is completely understandable.

Rather, some fool’s bookshop in Kärnten destroyed them. I’m sure there is in fact more than one bookshop there.

But that’s just your opinion and in a pluralist society others are surely entitled to have a different set of opinions about whether insulting references to deeply held religious beliefs are acceptable. Not everyone will likely agree that you are entitled to impose your particular scale of values on everyone else.
